These cookies remind us of Snickerdoodles, just more cake-like. Grandma said they remind her of some tea cookies her mom used to make, but these are a bit thicker. Her mom would also make a frosting and make them into cream filled sandwich cookies. Sounds like a great idea!
Ingredients:
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. sifted flour
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Cinnamon sugar
Directions:
Cream butter or margarine with sugar until well blended. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Add sifted flour, alternately with sour cream, salt, baking soda, and baking powder.
Blend to make a thick batter.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls, 4 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar and bake at 400 degrees for 9-10 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.
Remove from cookie sheet and cool completely on wire rack.
